About

The WEF Grant Program supports innovation and promotes excellence in the Wakefield Public Schools by seeking to enhance and enrich the educational experience of every student in the district.

Eligibility

All teachers, teacher aides, librarians, department heads, principals, assistant principals and PTO presidents within the Wakefield School Department may apply.

Scope

Grants are intended to be grade- or classroom-specific requests to support the Wakefield Public Schools in areas such as Educational Enrichment, Environmental Studies, Innovation, including the expansion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning options for students.

The subject matter to which a grant can be applied must impact a group of students in the Wakefield Public Schools. The group may be as small as a single class, or as large as the total school population (K-12). Stand-alone grant requests are encouraged, but a request for a large-scale program, that can be divided among several funding sources, will also be considered.

Decision Process

The WEF Grant Team reviews each and every grant, first ensuring that the request is within scope as identified above, and then evaluating the details of the proposal, often conducting research to resolve any questions.

After every grant has been received and the grant window has closed, WEF meets with the Superintendent and other District leaders, to discuss each proposal at length and make funding decisions. Consideration is also given to providing a balance among the school population, and to what components may be covered within other budgets.

Grant decisions will be shared in November.
