Wakefield Educational Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization that raises funding for educational activities that enhance the Wakefield Public Schools' Curricula but fall outside the scope of the WPS budget.

WEF’s mission is to bring the community together to build and sustain educational excellence with innovative and creative programs that impact all 8 of Wakefield’s schools.

WEF’s mission is to provide grants to the Wakefield Public Schools for innovative and creative programs that cannot be funded in the current year’s school district budget. Teachers, school staff, principals and PTOs are all eligible to apply for grants. Grants are awarded to those individuals and groups whose proposals best exemplify initiatives that impact a broad number of students, have long term creative and innovative educational benefits within our school system and contribute to educational excellence now and in the future for Wakefield Public School students.

Since 1989, WEF has awarded more than $680,000 for activities designed to enrich the learning experience and strengthen the achievement of every student in every Wakefield public school.
