BOND Building Construction donates $30,000 to WEF

The Wakefield Educational Foundation (WEF) thanks BOND Building Construction's generous donation of $30,000 over 3 years, enabling the community non-profit to sustain its current level of annual grant awards across all Wakefield Public Schools. WEF co-presidents Melissa Holmes and Cary Mazzone are thrilled about creating a meaningful partnership between the construction company led by BOND Building president and Wakefield resident Frank Hayes and the non-profit, which provides funding to enrich the educational experience and strengthen the achievement of every student in the Wakefield Public Schools. BOND’s partnership with WEF represents a strong commitment not only to building high quality schools in our community, but also to enhancing the learning experience for all Wakefield students.

In its annual grant cycle, WEF reviews approximately 40 grants submitted by WPS teachers, administrators, and PTOs. Proposals include funding requests for activities that complement the curricula such as author visits, inspirational speakers, museum visits, guest artists, and teaching materials for STEM classes, music, drama, art, and clubs. WEF awards as many grants as annual funding allows, and thanks to BOND's donation, WEF looks forward to maintaining its highest level of funding in the coming years.

BOND Building Construction’s core purpose is “Building Communities for the Future”, and WEF recognizes the profound impact that BOND will have on the Wakefield community with the completed Galvin School building project plus the ongoing High School building project. While BOND is developing a new infrastructure for innovative and enhanced learning opportunities for WPS students, WEF will continue, with BOND’s support, to provide much needed funding for school enrichment programs that fall outside the school budget. WEF is grateful for the partnership which impacts the students and the entire community in such positive ways.

To support the grant process, WEF receives generous funding from key local business partners, private donors, and a series of annual fundraisers including: WEF’s Wakefield Public Schools Calendar showcasing student art; the S.T.A.R.S. program recognizing exemplary WPS staff; the Online Auction and the Adult Spelling Bee. WEF has awarded over $680,000 across the Wakefield Public Schools since 1989. Learn more by following WEF on Twitter or Facebook or go to WEF01880.org.
