WEF Honors Ms. Meg Delory Leahy with the Impact Award
The Wakefield Educational Foundation hosted its 28th annual Celebration of Learning on Wednesday April 10th. WEF celebrated students, staff and volunteers who exemplify the core values of their schools and go above and beyond in their efforts and contributions to the Wakefield Public Schools. At the end of the program several special recognition awards were presented including the Impact Award.
Assistant Superintendent Kara Mauro presented the Impact Award to Ms. Meg Delory Leahy in appreciation for the positive impact she has on her students and colleagues. Ms. Mauro spoke of the many roles that Meg has held over her five years at Wakefield Memorial High School. “Meg has not only held the title of Guidance Counselor, but also that of Gymnastics Coach, National Honor Society Advisor, Youth Action Team Advisor and esteemed colleague. In every role she holds she lifts up those around her and makes the experience as positive as it can be for her students, colleagues and administrators.”
Mauro went on to say, “Meg is all in for our students, and not just for those on her caseload, all of our students. She spends countless hours offering invaluable guidance to help them navigate the complexities of high school, push them to challenge themselves to their full potential and prepare them for future plans that are specific to their strengths and passions.”
In closing, Assistant Superintendent Mauro referred to Ms. Delory Leahy as “an ally to our students,” “a leader who inspires our youth and guides our staff,” and thanked Meg for her “efforts, compassion and unwavering belief in the potential of all or our students.”
