WEF Grant Funds special trip to Windrush Farm

Thanks to their teachers and the support of the Wakefield Educational Foundation, two classes of  Galvin Middle School students were recently treated to the second of three interactive field trips to Windrush Farm in North Andover. Their teachers, Jessica Sabbagh and Bridget Levandowski planned these trips as opportunities for their students to interact with therapeutic horses, groom and lead them, learn about horse care and watch experienced riders.  Windrush Farm's mission is to “promote confidence, independence and well-being in children and adults with physical, cognitive or emotional challenges through therapeutic riding and horse-related programs.”  Ms. Sabbagh and Ms. Levandowski believed that the experience at Windrush Farm would be a new and educational experience for their students and one that is tailored to their individual needs and would provide lifelong learning and memories.  According to Ms. Sabbagh, "the opportunity to bring our kids to Windrush Farms to make memories and have an experience they may not have had otherwise was something I’m very proud we were able to make happen. We were so fortunate to have our wonderful administrators at the Galvin and WEF to support these inclusive initiatives".

Sabbagh concluded "next year, we will be expanding our community with some new students in our classes who I look forward to sharing this experience with. I’m so thankful to WEF for enriching my students lives and I look forward to this continued partnership.”

To support the grant process, WEF receives generous funding from key local business partners, private donors, and a series of annual fundraisers. WEF has awarded over $480,000 across the Wakefield Public Schools since 1989.  Learn More by following WEF on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and at WEF01880.org
