The Wakefield Educational Foundation enters a new school year under new leadership. Melissa Holmes and Cary Mazzone are honored to have been elected Co-Presidents of WEF and to lead WEF for the 2021-22 year. Prior to being elected, Holmes and Mazzone were active WEF volunteers and led a number of WEF initiatives. Fellow volunteers are confident that they will embrace their leadership roles and carry on WEF's mission to build and sustain educational excellence with innovative and creative programs impacting students in all 8 of Wakefield’s public schools.

Holmes reflected on her past six years of involvement with WEF, “Being part of the WEF Team has been such a positive and rewarding experience. It has allowed me to be connected to the community and see the incredible work happening in the Wakefield Public Schools. I’m excited and honored to team up with Cary and the awesome WEF Team for a school year filled with the WEF activities and traditions I love.”

Elizabeth Russell and Jennifer Theriault have served as President/ Vice President or Co-Presidents for the past 6 years and feel confident that Melissa and Cary are the perfect team to carry the baton and lead the organization forward.

Russell enthusiastically supports the new duo, "Melissa and Cary have shown incredible commitment to WEF and are dedicated to engaging the community in WEF's important mission of providing grants to enhance the experience of our students.”

Theriault also endorses the new Team and believes, "they are the perfect team at the perfect time to advance WEF."

One of Holme’s and Mazzone's first goals is to increase volunteer participation in WEF. They encourage interested community members to peruse WEF01880.org and invite them to attend the October meeting to learn more.
